This week

What else is new. Anya has had a meltdown every day she went to school this week so far. I think we're going to have to change her bedtime to 6pm. I'm crossing my fingers for tonight.

We had an "intake phone call assessment" from One Kids' Place for speech therapy yesterday. It originally was just for Dhara, because I'm concerned about her lack of talking, but since Elora is borderline, I signed her up too. I counted Dhara's words this past couple of weeks and she uses about 20 or so, when she should be at 100-150. Elora is maybe at 60 or 70, although I didn't count hers exactly. They're both improving over time, so I'm not terribly worried or anything, but I do want to encourage Dhara to talk more. She makes lots of baby noises and sounds, but doesn't seem to be too interested in words. She seems to be content to just let Elora do the talking.

The lady I talked to said the therapy consists of playing, either singly or in a group, with the therapist guiding their activites (as much as you can guide a two-year old.) It's a nine month waiting period from when I first called, so it'll be August before they get back to us for a face to face assessment interview. I figure they'll start the therapy by the time they're in school. :)

The wait time is a lot less in Sudbury, 'Wordplay' through the health unit. We almost put Sage in that program, until he hit his required 50 words just prior to the app't. I have a magnet with their phone number if you'd like to check them out.
