Iran's Revolution
I am following with interest the events happening in Iran. (I found out about it through Fark.com which started following the story early on.) Ever since the "election" on June 12, a huge number of the people have been protesting the results, there has been violence as the government tries to stifle the protests, and a full swing revolution is now underway.
What is really interesting is how the information is getting out, since Iran cut off phones and internet, and banned international reporters. At first it was just twitter posts coming through to the outside world. Now, more and more information is trickling out, and the Iran government can't stop it all.
One of fark's regular contributors has put together a website with a great summary of the players and recent events, if you're interested. The information is well researched:

Interesting, shocking, and horrifying stuff.

I forgot to say inspirational. And hopeful, as well.
