Dentist
Today was Anya's first visit to the dentist! It went most smoothly and wonderfully and Anya was just awesome. I was thinking it would just be a "count your teeth" visit, but she actually held still long enough for a real cleaning.
She was a little nervous when the hygienist showed her the "magic" chair which goes up and down. As soon as it started to tilt back, she sat up and spun around with her feet on the pillow. She didn't flinch at the spinny tooth cleaner thing (technical term) or at all the weird utensils being put in her mouth. The only thing that made her jump was when the hygienist forgot to tell Anya that she was about to squirt water in her mouth. Even the spit vacuum was ok.
All 20 teeth checked out cavity free. Anya got a new toothbrush, dental floss (good luck with that) a pretty pink sand timer (although Dad informs me Anya spent more time playing with the timer than actually brushing her teeth tonight, so maybe not such a good idea) and a toy from the "treasure chest". It's one of those sliding puzzles where the picture gets scrambled and you have to move the tiles around to put it back. It's a good thing Dad is good at them -- Anya keeps messing it up and wanting us to fix it.
A neat little note: our temporary dentist is Dr. Rod Johnston -- you know, Lynn Johnston's (ex)husband from the cartoon "For Better or Worse"? Our regular dentist got hurt in a bad car accident and has been on leave for a long time. Dr. Johnston is filling in for him. He wears very bright "exciting" clothing. Today he had on a clown bow tie. I'm not sure if it impressed Anya or not.

Hey! Remember me? I got to your blog from a link on Jennifer's and I love seeing your girls...you have a wonderful family! I had to comment on this blog...I am a For Better Or For Worse freaky fan! I love that strip and even buy all the books (can you say looooser?) So now I think you are *very* cool! The permagrin on my face now is a bit embarrassing...now that I know someone who knows Rod Johnston...LOOOOSER ME! :-)
Yes, I also am agog that you spent time with a cartoon dentist!! But then, who better to clean your daughter's teeth for the first time? It makes me want to go to North Bay and get Hayden's teeth cleaned by him.
