Relaxing weekend

Ahhh. What a great weekend so far. No plans, just, a nice, quiet weekend. With three sick kids. Hmmm.
It's nice though, not to be rushing around everywhere. We're just doing house things. Like finally removing the baby change pad on the dresser in the dining room. Honestly, it had been there so long we didn't see it any more. And it collected a lot of junk, and, well, yeah, it's kind of embarassing. Dhara and Elora are three, for goodness sake. I emptied out the drawers of the dresser, and now it's filled with the kids craft stuff, rather than a lot of empty bags, singleton socks, and at least a dozen baby bibs.

Wow, what an exciting blog post, you say. No really, tell us more, say, about cleaning the lint off the ceiling fans.

In other news, I'm trying an experiment. I'm avoiding refined sugar. Day 4, woohoo! I wanted to make one change in the way I eat, and I thought this might be helpful. I still have a little honey in my tea, or a little maple syrup on my mueslix and yogurt, but on the whole I'm avoiding sweets. I'm not sure if it's helping my mood swings yet, but we'll see. I'd like to turn it into a full fledged low-glycemic index type of diet, but I'll go with one thing at a time. I mostly eat all whole grains already anyway.

I did set a task for myself this weekend, and that was to get all of Anya's party planned, and her invitations made up. She's turning 6, can you believe it? She's lost two teeth in the past two weeks, and we've had two visits from the tooth fairy. After the first one fell out and Anya realized that she got a looney for it, the second tooth was quite vigorously wiggled and almost forcibly removed one morning.

I think this post is done. Happy weekend, everyone.

Hmm. I wonder if our kids shared a germ or two?

There must be something in the air. I've been cleaning (!) the kitchen surfaces. Yesterday I did the pile o' crap on Mommy's little dresser because I needed a place for the fruit basket, and today I did the top of the china cupboard. A few days ago I threw away all the baby spoons.
