Art

I don't know why I keep being surprised that Dhara and Elora are so different. They are completely different personalities. One of the benefits of having twins is that you can look at how different your children are in their preferences, behaviours, etc, and realize, it's not me. Elora hates vegetables... and it's nothing I did wrong. Dhara is ultra shy and quiet, while Elora turns into a banshee on occasion. And it's nothing I did to make them turn out that way.

The other day they were colouring, and I thought these drawings were perfect examples of their personalities. Dhara drew parallel lines, concentric circles and slow careful dots, with the same marker, for 20 minutes. The blobs of green in the middle are where she held the marker to the paper and left it there, watching the ink ooze out. The dots, she told me, are zebra footprints. Each one was very carefully placed with great consideration.

Elora used every colour marker we had in a great whirlwind of artistic energy, and was finished in 2 minutes flat. The paper very nearly didn't make it.
For Nanny and Gran's birthday, we sent them some homemade cards. 3 guesses as to which artist did each card, and the first two don't count. :)

That is fascinating! I'm sure there is lots of literature on this stuff, but I always think how twins get lumped together and it's so often assumed that they will be similar because they shared a womb for 9 months.
Kisses to all of you!
